This body of work was inspired by a need for lightness and joy after two very long years of global pandemic and continued unrest. My starting point was deeply rooted in experimentation and play—I started incorporating a method of botanical dying into my studio practice, and slowly little worlds started to appear in the canvas—to me they looked like galaxies—stardust and poetry, mingled together. To these worlds I quietly added my own marks and movement. The resulting work comes close to what I’d hoped for—not a visual outcome, but a feeling—a breeze, warm and dreamy; shadows moving on a wall; flowers falling.
