The inspiration behind this painting is the Japanese term called 'shinrin yoku', the idea of 'forest bathing' and how through taking in the forest through our senses we can bring both mental and physical healing to our bodies. Creating these green paintings has been inspired both by the idea of forest bathing while simultaneously remembering the forests of my native New Zealand. Lime greens juxtaposed against dark green/black. Shadows flitter across the canvas. This painting is an act of remembering the shapes and the movement of previous homes but at the same time these memories morph and change and become a slowly changing abstract landscape in my mind.
