These abstract landscapes have been a series I've been working on for a while now. I first started making them on a trip to see family in Japan; where I discovered the joys of working with pigment and was mesmerised with the ever present mountainous landscapes that followed me around the country. Even now I find myself gazing out windows, searching out these distant hills, these far away places. Sometimes they're shrouded in mist, other times they remain as static shadows on my horizon line. These paintings share an element of my imagination and of remembered journeys.

22.5 cm (9 inch) abstract round. Pigment and acrylic on canvas, stretched onto an embroidery hoop and varnished to protect it from dust and dirt (so yes, you can put your fingers on it and even give it a wipe clean if need be!).
